Dear
Working Families e-Activist
President
Bush's overtime pay take-away could go into effect
any day now. That would be an awful holiday gift
for workers in New York and everywhere.
The
U.S. House of Representatives failed to block
the Bush overtime pay take-away last week. The
Senate has scheduled a vote for Jan. 20th on the
measure. Our mission between now and then is to
reach out to as many people as possible -- especially
in New York -- and ask them to get involved in
the campaign to protect overtime pay.
The
first thing people can do to get involved in the
campaign to protect overtime pay is to sign the
overtime petition by clicking on the link below.

During
the Overtime Pay National Week of Action, more
than 180,000 people signed the petition opposing
President Bush's overtime pay take-away. That
is fantastic! So, we're keeping the petition up
and going.
Your
efforts to engage your friends, family, and co-workers
in New York on this issue is really important.
Workers in New York have been hit hard already
by job loss, unemployment and other economic punches.
The overtime pay take-away would be another blow
for New York workers and their families.
Over
the next five weeks we'll send you e-mails about
different ways you can make a difference in the
fight to protect overtime pay. We'll ask you to
write letters, send faxes, make phone calls and
more. So, if you're able to recruit more people
in New York to join the campaign, than more people
will have a chance to make a difference. Together,
we can make a huge impact.
Starting
today, you can do the following two things:
1.
Ask your friends, family and co-workers in New
York to sign the online petition to protect overtime
pay. If you haven't signed yet, please do so now.
Just click below to get started: http://www.saveovertimepay.org/
2.
Download a printable petition and circulate it
for signatures among your friends, family and
co-workers. You can download the petition and
get instructions for circulating the petition
by clicking on the link below.

Look
for more e-mails in the future on this issue.
Thanks for all you do.
